Senior Engineering Technician Position in City of Irving

A position is open for a Senior Engineeing Technician in the Department of Public Health and Environmental Services of the City of Irving.  Duties include preparing engineering designs and drawings for solid waste disposal projects using a computer-aided design / drafting system and other tools; collecting field data, samples and measurements, including performing surveys; coordinating research with other departments and divisions; performing and reviewing mathematical calculations related to engineering design projects; and preparing contract bid documents and cost estimates. Duties also include coordinating with local, state and federal agencies on solid waste regulatory compliance matters; and providing assistance with compiling field notes used in the design of public works projects. An Associate's degree, or equivalent, with course work in civil engineering, drafting or a related field is required. Must have three years of drafting and technical engineering experience, including experience performing computer-aided design (AUTOCAD) work; and have, or be able to obtain, an appropriate Texas driver's license. Experience using Microsoft Excel preferred.
