This year's state ROAD-E-O was held at Texas Disposal Systems in Austin, after WASTECON. I wish to thank Holt Cat, Heil of Texas, Caron, Texas Disposal Systems, Toter, Haston Associates and all of the other sponsors, judges, and volunteers for their support and hard work that made this a great ROAD-E-O. I wish to pass on my special thanks to Bob Gregory, Jim Gregory, Ryan Hobbs, Jaymie Richards, Justin Gregory, Mike Meredith and all to the staff at TDS for their hard work and for letting us use their facility. The competitors and guests were really impressed with the TDS facility and the friendly attitude of the staff.
We missed Jim Schooler's traditional ROAD-E-O seafood dinner. Jim lost all of his equipment in Hurricane Rita and was working as part of the emergency response team, so he was unable to join us. We wish Jim a speedy recovery.
SWANA made an early cash donation to the Red Cross to support the Hurricane Katrina recovery effort. The TxSWANA chapter followed by donating $1000 the Red Cross.
The TxSWANA chapter fundraiser this year was the WASTECON Golf Tournament. I wish to thank the golf sponsors for their support of our chapter and the golf event.
Mark your calendars to attend next year's TxSWANA Annual Conference in June, 2006 to be hosted by the City of Dallas. See you there.
